Reactivating the WooCommerce Email Validation plugin

 Goals:

Please click the [ Mark Complete ] button at the bottom of this page when you’ve achieved the following goals:

  • Understand the issue around the Email Validation plugin, and the consequences of NOT activating it.
  • Reactivate the Email validation plugin (WooCommerce Email Validation).
Why?

Email validation prompts customers to enter their Email twice, to ensure that they haven’t made a typing mistake.

The WooCommerce Email Validation plugin was initially problematic (it asked for email confirmation at checkout, and it was placing the second email box in the incorrect location).

To fix this, we disabled the plugin automatically for all sites.

However, we’ve now fixed the template, and the plugin can be reactivated if you wish.

If you do nothing:

The checkout will work and customers will only need to enter their email address once.

However, your customers will sometimes make a mistake with their email address, and without validation, they aren’t prompted to correct it.

You then won’t receive their attempted Email message.

If you reactivate the WooCommerce Email Validation plugin:

Customers then need to enter their email address twice.

If they make a mistake, they are prompted to correct it.

You will then receive their Email message.
